The event hosted by the Chairman and CEO Hon. Gordon (Butch) Stewart was the Airlines way of showing appreciation for the support of its sales & marketing staff, and the Community at large. Guests included Travel consultants, Community activists, Newspaper and Magazine Publishers and elected officials. This year?s event had special significance because of the surprise appearance of world renowned Artist, Activist and Statesman, Harry Belafonte. Mr. Belafonte, referred to by Chairman Stewart as the "President of the Caribbean" gave a short speech (see video excerpt on jamx website) about the history of Jamaican and Caribbean culture, and the emergence of Air Jamaica as a player in the international Airline industry.

Other attendees included Carl Rodney, Publisher of The Carib News, Campbell Rudder, Air Jamaica's Regional Director of Sales for the north east, and Wil Rodgers Senior Sales VP. The JamxBand?s task of entertaining staff and guests numbering about 400 was easy, as every one wasted no time getting into the holiday spirit and strutting their stuff on the huge dance floor. As is customary the Airline provided great vacation prizes to Air Jamaica and Sandals Resorts destinations for lucky winners. All in all a memorable evening.
